Raquel Santos-Lacueva (Alcañiz, 1988) obtained her PhD in Tourism and Leisure (Cum Laude with International Distinction) at the University Rovira i Virgili. She has a transdisciplinary profile and holds a BA in Political Science and Public Administration (University of Barcelona) and a MA in Regional and Environment Planning (University of Zaragoza). Moreover, she did research stays of more than three months, in the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research (Bournemouth University, United Kingdom), in the Department of Sustainable Development (Quintana Roo University, Mexico), in the Department of Political Science and Administration (Complutense University of Madrid, Spain) and in the Research Group on Inclusive Governance and Territorial and Coastal-Marine Sustainability (Autonomus University of Barcelona).

She obtained different competitive and open calls to develop her doctoral thesis: four years grant FPI (Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness), three grants for research stays (Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness), and a grant JPI for Young Lecture and Researchers to do research in Ibero-American countries (Santander Bank Universities).

Her research focuses on sustainable tourism, policies and public action of tourism, and tourism and climate change. Raquel has experience on tourism consultancy and has participated on at least seven research projects funded by several institutions, such as the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition, Barcelona City Council or ERA4CS.
She is member of the AECIT Board (Spanish Association of Scientific Experts on Tourism) and coordinator of the working groups on Tourism Policies in both International Conferences GIGAPP and AECIT since 2014. She has been lecture in Rovira I Virgili University, Ostelea School of Tourism (Lleida University) and CETT (University of Barcelona).
