Eugenia Altamirano has a bachelor in Tourism (2013, UCAECE Mar del Plata-Argentina) and a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Tourism Destinations and Regional Tourism Planning (2017, OSTELEA Barcelona). She is currently a PhD candidate on the «Travel and Leisure»  program at URV and researcher funded by an AGAUR scholarship from the Generalitat de Catalunya. 

She has several years of experience in the tourist service industry, having worked in top-ranked hotels, tour operators and restaurants around the world. Eugenia had recently turned the private sector to join the academia carrying out her research on slum tourism practices and performances in favelas in Rio de Janeiro. She has a particular interest in the role of urban tourism and its capacity to resignify cultural identities and reconfigure the urban landscape.
